Thin privilege is being able to say you’re looking for a way to boost your energy without having everyone in the room say “exercise,” under the assumption that you don’t. And not having to debate whether or not it’s even worth it to stand up for yourself, because it’s not like anyone would actually listen to you anyway.
Hmm, I don’t know if this is the greatest example of thin privilege. I mean, I’ve been on both sides of thin privilege despite never getting to the worst victimization, but whenever I’ve mentioned that I want more energy, no matter who I’ve said that too, or what size I was, the first thing every person told me was “exercise”. That was the first thing my doctor told me, when I was thin, when I was bigger, and even now when I’m thin again. That’s the first thing every self help book will have on that list, along with a possible list of clean foods that will give you a lot of energy and vitality. It’s more about the endorphins and just plain energy that comes from exercise that that is using the first thing people with say, followed by a question of sleep. I just think this example isn’t the greatest, unless the person who’s said this says it in a degrading way.
“What if the cure for cancer is trapped inside the mind of the baby you’re considering aborting?”
what if the cure for cancer would have eventually developed inside the mind of a teenage girl who made a mistake and was forced to drop out of school and never receive an education in order to raise a child she did not want.
What if that teenage girl decided to have the baby and put it up for adoption, continue her schooling with little pause, the baby continuing his/her life, and the cure for cancer is a combination of the research of both people at different times, one working off the other?
My flipping goodness I have 12 followers? What in the hell? Like, anything that’s my own on this blog is my rants/text rambles/fangirling tags/random burst of intellectual obnoxiousness. Everything is reblogged! Yet I have, to me, a lovely number of 12 followers?!
I love you, and all you guys have done is click a button to subscribe to my nonsense.
ANYWAYS, I’ve changed my name/icon/blog theme today, thought I’d let you know.
My name’s changed from ‘heartofarosebud’ to ‘howtheyspinmeround’. My blog’s only a year old, but ‘heartofarosebud’ outgrew me like *snap*. I mean, I couldn’t think of something awesome when I was making my blog, so the name WAS supposed to be semi-temporary. Like, I understand the image from Revolutionary Girl Utena (a pretty DAMN good anime/show/movie) that I was trying to get at, but my name sounded like, really juvenille to me sometimes. SO, finally changed it. Lyrics from Greg Laswell’s, ‘And Then You’ anyone? I couldn’t possibly pick one related to one of my fandoms, my blog will be pretty eclectic for that.
My icon is me, a picture I haven’t used anywhere yet. My nose looks like its 3 inches long xDD. IDK, I like my eyes, and this was the only one I had. C’est instagrammed, I’m not actually flawless or that pretty, it’s just that the picture looks decent, I promise. =P
The one I had before was also from Revolutionary Girl Utena, and I had picked it for the character’s physical position and skin colour. Dude, Anthy is brown, I’m brown, you don’t get many brown characters period, let alone in anime (another reason I love ATLA and LOK, no racial discrimination, and we have some awesome, unprejudiced and unstereotyped brown people!!)
Blog theme isn’t concrete yet (ha, hahahhaha *if you see it, you’ll get my pun*). I learned and had many books on HTML and the like in Gr 4 and 5 (yay two years of private schooling!!! -_-) and was pretty good at it then, but hell, it’s been 10 years, I don’t remember much. Hopefully, I will be asking around for tips soon on how to do certain things, cause my blog looks like a cement wall right now, with a pretty picture on the side. (which is yes, me, again, just so happened to be a nice picture)
But yeah. Excuse my rambling, thank you for listening, and I let you get back to your awesome dashboards now. =)
Hey! So, to my surprising total of 10 followers - to whom I have a message of ‘why in the heavens do you follow me’ - I thought I may let you know I’ll be changing my username and pic around a bit soon. I’ll post about the change once its done, but hey, thought I’d let you know! Thanks for following, it feels nice knowing people see my existence on this great place!
